this idea is pretty good however bolt action is the preferred term. and i beleive the new sniper models are going to be bullets as apose to charge lazer.

also nooooooooo removing sniper class its part of the musts for a fortress game we already went over it.

Teleporters weren't in TFC originally, they got put in with the steam update. Teleporters broke some of the gameplay and the competitive community hated them. Since the old devs came from the competitive side of TFC, they chose not to add them.

This is the problem with this type of thread... instead of constructive criticism(here are some ideas to make the sniper better), it's always "remove the sniper!! WAHHH!"

The Sniper IS being worked on, which Bridget SHOULD know since he's in the Beta. Instead, he's still on the "WAHH" side of the arguement. This is why his opinions on the subject get ignored by many in the community.

I forget who, but someone proposed making the Sniper Rifle a non-hit-scan weapon, and have a projectile similar to the Snipers in HL2. After having gotten to the spot where you have to deal with them in HL2(where you have the support team).... I support this idea. It nerfs the sniper just a bit, but keeps the class a dangerous one to confront. It would also increase the skill level required to master the class... which is something else I'm in favor of. Easy to learn how to play, but requires time to master. It's still difficult to dodge, but not impossible. Which is also a learning curve on the part of other classes.

Another idea I had last night, was to alter the "field of visibility" on the laser beam. Make it visible from all angles, not just the narrow "oh shit, I'm about to get nailed" angle that it is now.

Sniper is being worked on? What do you define as being worked on? Having once been worked on? The only fucking person to contribute to trying to fix the Sniper's problem of "binary damage" was Mervaka. In fact, he did so when he was a little rusty at programming, probably because no one else wanted to do shit about it. This was A LONG TIME ago. We're talking like 6 or 7 months ago. Is that how you guys on FF-DEV define being worked on? I guess that's why Engy is being worked on, despite the last changes to his gun having been equally as long off in the past. That's a cool little trick, though. Tell people stuff that hasn't been touched for months is "being worked on".

Also, be more biased, Iggy. Every Sniper debate equally comes with people who play the terrible class defending it with ad-hominem attacks like Ventry here who couldn't connect the dots on a two-dot puzzle let alone produce a legitimate argument. The thing is, I don't just whine. Sure, I get pissed that people can defend such a terrible class that contributes nothing at all to this game and is a source of frustration that drives people away, but most of it is backed by reasoning everyone strawmans or tries to bullshit their way out of challenging. That's your perception of my arguments, though, that they're "WAAAAH" arguments, because you happen to be someone who plays Sniper. So, in short, get fucked.

I have provided you guys with tons of constructive criticism. You're just too stubborn to acknowledge it or are purposely ignorant of it. Probably a mixture of both, to be honest. You cherry-pick only the times I complain outright about stuff out of emotion. Be more of an American, Iggy. See what I did there? I judged you on some arbitrary title you had to involuntarily be born into. Aren't I just fuckin' cool?

Also, the first post I made was a suggestion for a rifle for the Sniper. The remaining comments I have made on this thread have been short, and mostly irrelevant to the Sniper. Where has it gone to said "wah" argument?

If I see the only solution is to remove the Sniper, then I'm going to fucking argue that solution. To you, it might seem extreme, because you fail to understand why the Sniper doesn't belong or have some conviction to playing the class, but that doesn't make it less constructive or worthy.

Besides, what should you worry? The FF dev team can't even fix the Engineer, which is arguably the biggest problem with Fortress Forever right now. Even when a public poll objectively confirms that it is, the dev team still lounges around in denial. So, if you have to worry about the team ripping the Sniper apart, schedule it on your calendar for the year 2030 or something.

Bridget is mocked on here but he has some of the best ideas, I am assuming some of the devs are afraid of backlash if they make classes balanced.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Bridget DOES forward some good ideas, but he overshadows them with posts like the one above, where he basicly rips everyone involved. I've also called on him to do some of the work himself, since he's not happy with what's being done.

There is an infinite range of things we can do with the sniper. Any solution we settle on will be without one-shot kills, I'll tell you that. Removing the class is an absolute last resort.

Headshots should be one-shot kills. Other than that, I agree. Of course, that requires accurate hitboxes.

I already know how to program. My knowledge is not as strong in C++. The problem for me is learning the way around the Source Engine.
