Map Battle : Number One (Template)
For those who visit interlopers.net will know what this is, but for those who do not I'll explain.
The whole point of this is to get people to build upon there existing mapping skills, and for those who know nothing of it, to give it a try. They are no restriction on skill level, everyone is asked to join in regardless of skill. I've decided to start FF's Map Battles off with a template as it makes you think a bit more. Rules Grey Areas: are not allowed to physically changed, they must be left they why they are. If ANY changes are made you will not be allowed to submit your work to be voted on. What do I mean by physically change: You are not allowed to edit the brushes, unless they are textures. (I should explain this better, but oh well) What can you do with em? You can re-size the whole section, but together they must look the same when but back to the original size. Orange Areas: These can be changed to what you desire them to be, they are to be a helper to start you off. Brush Limit: 2,500 (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Brush) - Vidar's flag room is roughly around 1,200 Brushes as of right now(which is very detailed, no I will not show pictures till a beta), so it gives you a lot of room to work with. This map starts off with 114. Time Limit: All maps must be submitted by Friday September 18th, 2009 @ 5:00PM. (The time my lab is over ;D) What do I have to send: The VMF of your map and a max of 3 Screenshots in HL2, or whatever game you use to test your maps. After the dead line I will start a new thread asking people to vote, Which will be 3 days long. This is a test of it, if it doesn't go off as I envision it, I won't do it again I'll think of some prizes if the battles go as planned, Probably do seasons where wins are calculated and that winner will lets say, gets a server for a month, 22 man. Rook brough this up, the object in grey must be VISIBLE in the screen shot. No, you can't be like I'll just make it 1x1, it must be built around the object. Make it fit the map.

Hell yeah, the stuff on interlopers generally comes out really nicely and I think most of these will as well.

FF_VATS_KOTH (A map borne of the fact that I'm not a great mapper, so making a new (to FF at least) gamemode is the only advantage I have ) The map is Moving King of the Hill - Soldiers only, with no self/fall damage, and limited to 1 Frag per life. The hill randomly rotates between each team's vat every 2 minutes. The HUD, objective icon, and light all reflect which hill is in play. The hill that is in play will be drained of chemicals. Hills not in play will be filled, and will hurt anyone inside... so watch out for the hill change! Scoring only occurs when your team dominates the Vat, and scores at a rate of 1 point every 5 seconds, multiplied by the number of team members inside the hill. The HUD also indicates the state of scoring - wether the hill is contested, uncontested, or a team is scoring. The one in the green base is the original.)
