Dev. Journal: squeek. (2013-05-19)

As discussed in a recent dev journal, a client-only bugfix patch (version 2.46.1) has been released using our new auto-updater. You should be prompted to update next time you load the game. Let me know if you have any trouble using it.

Here is the changelog (which can also be found on our changelogs page):

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug that made the team menu disappear if you joined a server and toggled the scoreboard while still looking at the MOTD
  • Fixed cloak screen effect being drawn while in a slowfield instead of while cloaked
  • Reverted cl_ragdolltime fix because it caused unexcepted problems; removed the cl_ragdolltime cvar temporarily
  • Fixed first-person spectator view going insane if the player you're spectating dies while concussed
Also, for anyone that needs or just prefers it, here is an .exe installer for 2.46.1 (to patch from 2.46 to 2.46.1):

Just so you're aware, squeek. When I loaded the game I was not prompted to update, but I did see that an update was available on the lower right corner of the screen. Other than that the update worked flawlessly.

I loaded the game and was prompted for an update, which updated correctly and gave me a changelog of the changes and is now up to date.

I start the game directly from the server browser. It skips the initial title screen and connects to the server, but the update notification appears on the escape menu. I'm guessing that it's intended behavior due to the way hl2.exe runs when connecting directly to a server.

It still exists for me. Anyone else?

Happens in first person view but not third person. Something to do with the concussion stars, I would assume?

finnaly it means FF can quckly fix problems or throw in smaller patches as they odn't have to worry about updating to often.

Plus, updates can revert certain changes that cause unexpected bugs until they're fixed, so less likely people will get upset at a bug that exists for a long time.

I dont see how much better I can explain it. It's not fixed. The little spinning stars are something new as of this patch, as is the spinning camera bug.

spinning stars... spinning camera... hmm idk my logic must be flawed or non-existent

also FDA- since you're not an FF developer, does it really matter if it makes sense to you?

That's what I thought you meant, and that's what doesn't make sense to me. Doesn't make sense to me for a sprite to affect the camera like that. And I thought the conc stars have been in this game as long as I've been playing?
