Mechanical keyboards - anyone using one for ff - feedback please

Been thinking about a mechanical keyboard for general use but interested if anyone used a cherry mx blue switch for ff, very interested in your views.

Tried the qpad mk-80 mx blues in currys and love the feedback and click, but each key seems a bit wobbly, any other makes that feel very good quality?

I did look at a lot of youtube vids but rather have opinions from people using them for ff or any fps type game.

Cheers
Headzy

Bing I'm the person you're looking for.

Honestly switches are all personal preference. Blues are light enough where it wouldn't make such a big deal on activating keys compared to say blacks/whites/greens along with the bump. I had blacks for close to two years and just bought a Vortex Poker II with reds and my god, its 100x better. Reds are a bit lighter than blues but don't produce the click since it's linear.

As I said it is all personal preference, if you want tactile feedback and want lighter switches go blue or brown. Otherwise I highly suggest reds.

That said, I'm a bit unfamiliar with the qpad mx-80 but looking around I've found good reviews for it. I'm actually surprised qpad makes a mechanical keyboard. What is really nice about that is they sell the various keyboard layouts for different locations.

I'm curious, what are you looking for in a keyboard? Back lighting, macro keys, etc. I could help find one that I know a bit better

OH also, if you can try and find keyboards that default come with PBT keycaps. ABS are garbage and shine/rub off after a few weeks of play.

I've heard good things about this:

But I'm not sure if it has anti-ghosting capability.

If I ever get another keyboard though, I'll probably go for the steelseries:

CM QF are excellent keyboards. Really really good price for them too, I'd p much recommend them to anyone who wants to get into mechanical keyboards. The 6Gv2 is the keyboard that I had for 2 years before this one, it's solid but the only downside is the actual key layout. The really big enter and moved slash isn't that ideal, though it does have a moved windows key which is nice if you have issues with it.

One thing to keep in mind is if you ever want to get different keycaps you wont find a full set for keyboards like the 6Gv2. You'd want a layout like the CM QF (its actual name escapes me). Not a big deal tbh if you aren't looking to do that in the future.

Yeah I much prefer a 101 layout vs an 80 key, but to each their own.

Cheers for your thoughts, I am wanting blue switches as I like the click and actuation feel, must have arrow keys with insert home page up delete end page down keys in the standard layout, the numberpad keys are not essential but if they have them thats ok. No need for macro keys.

Not concerned about backlight too much, its just a bonus, and a usb through port is also a bonus, most concern is quality feel, the qpad did have a nice rubbery type feel to them, just each key bit loose if you rock it.

I love the look of the corsair k60 with the aluminum base and detachable usb lead, some keyboards in the past have failed at the connection area so this is a plus to me. I tried this keyboard to and love it apart from the cherry reds, really love the tactile and audio of the blues.

Might wait for a few weeks see if anything new comes out, the ducky shine 3 looks good but quite expensive, was thinking no more than £130

Yep love the look of this beast, quite expensive but guess it should last 20 years.

Here's what I recommend with an amazing price. I was looking to get the 'stealth' version of that board with mx greens but decided against it for my 60%. The new Ducky Shine III are amazing, I really wish I had one. Don't know if its smart to buy another expensive keyboard at this time lol.

I guess it's just amazon links killing the forums.

I think greens might be too stiff for a decent gaming sesh.

The more I hear about Ducky the more I like them, just the name sounds so gay haha

Might wait a while see what comes for xmas stock, must be some new ones out soon so no real rush.

Everything so much cheaper in usa, I found what i want now, its almost out, the Corsair K70 with mx blues, read its on order for usa customers, and pre order over here in UK.

Going to wait for it, looks nice with the brushed ali. not bothered about the backlight blue, Id rather it be white, might be able to do something there and solder on some white leds, or scrape off the colour if they are sprayed and not phos coated inside.

Happy days
