I've got a Logitech G500. Its very good, and if you like heavy mice it has weights you can add.

The software is pretty good, you can have custom settings for every game or program you use and it automatically switches for you when you go into the game or what ever and then switches back when you exit it.

You can set the DPI on the fly from 200 to somewhere around 5700.

Its a wired mouse with 10 buttons.

It has the same design as the MX500, MX510, MX518

The Logitech G700 is suppose to be another good one. I haven't used it myself but I like the fact that it can be wired or unwired. It doesn't have weights but its got pretty much everything the G500 has as far as I know.

It has the same design as the MX500, MX510, MX518

Its got 12 or 13 buttons.

I've used the MX518 for a few years and it's never had any problems. I'll likely get another of the same model if this one ever breaks.

It really depends on your hand style and what you feel is comfortable. I always liked logitech stuff but recently have been getting into Razer (mainly for the Deadadder which fits my hand nicely) and Steelseries since they sponsor something I do.

I'm on my 3rd G5.. if you get a logitech mouse don't bother with one that has a fabric-y cable cause they break - a lot (and I've been pretty careful since the first one broke). Mouse is good otherwise.

I'm also looking for a new one though so this thread can help me out too!

Guess I'll add what I use into the mix, for the past few years I've been using a Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse, there's a few versions but I have the original, which looks like:

It's fairly nice looking mouse, the 3 buttons on the top control DPI, which you can set in the software it comes with, so I have them at... 2000, 1000, 400, so if I need precision I just switch to 400 DPI. Which is very slow, and I use 2000 normally.

Has an LCD screen to show you the DPI, and macro recording. A pull out tray to add weight to what you prefer, and all of the usual buttons for a gaming mouse. And the performance is excellent, oh and it comes with a little box with the weights in and also 3 sets of feet, with different textures for speed or precision etc..

Only downside is probably the size of it, it's a big mouse... I have big hands so I like it, but for average hands it's too big.

If I were to buy a Sidewinder now, I'd probably go for the Sidewinder X8. Which looks nicer and has all of the same features, but 4000 DPI. (But, from comparison pictures, the X8 actually looks bigger than mine, which is huge..)

Oh, and the square silver button on the top of both is a shortcut to your games folder, but I don't really use it :/

And the mice are opened by removing one of the feet and using a Torx screwdriver, quite easy to clean.

I'd rate Razer mice as the best though.

Yeah this is what I would say as well, it depends on how you play. I particularly like having at least one mouse button for each finger and the vast majority of mice have nothing for the pinky finger. I have the Steelseries Xai which gives me 7 usable buttons and has ones for each finger.

If you're a buttons freak, it's difficult to outdo the Razer Naga.

The kinzu's lack of side buttons is a bit disapointing.

So...

MX 518, G400, Deathadder, or Kinzu.

Razer products look really cheaply made. Still don't know which to decide upon.
