Google Wave - Page 2

For people on this forum who get Wave accounts, add ffcommbot at appspot dot com to your contact list. When you start a new wave, it will automatically put everyone in the "FF Wave Community" (all 7 of us... once everyone signs up) into your wave. I was in the zone and coded the whole bot tonight, minus two parts. Those should be done by tomorrow.

@Hawk Eye: API for bots is pretty straightforward for a system as complex as Wave. Haven't messed around with extensions/gadgets at all yet. Those seem a bit more complicated.

Yep. I think that Google just sent out another batch of invites to expand their testing base. I'm guessing most of the people that got invited from this thread also got invites to send out now. I have some as well, although I have to give some to my RL friends first.

Don't worry, most of them are geeks too. Three of them are programmers like myself. Another is a network administrator in the making (i.e. still in school).

The only thing I like is the language translator. Other than that, just use a messenger service.

It has a lot more features than just a simple messaging service. In fact, using it as a messaging service needs a bit more work in the keyboard shortcut department. It's far more powerful as a document collaboration tool/email with a bit of IM mixed in, rather than just an IM tool.

In other news, Google has added better group management to Wave, officially making the FF Comm Bot deprecated (not that anyone was using it in the first place...). I will make an FF community Google Group for Wave. They have also added read/write permissions for waves. If you are the wave owner, you can set other people (or entire groups) to have read-only vs full access.

Edit: Join the group at http://groups.google.com/group/fortress-forever, and then add fortress-forever@googlegroups.com to your contact list in Wave. By clicking on that contact, you can search all group waves. If you invite the group to a wave, it adds everyone to it. It's basically what my bot did, but better.
