Adam
So yeah, this guy has been IP banned from multiple FF servers yet he is still somehow able to cause them to lag like crazy.
When he tries to join my server now that he's been IP banned, it says "Adam has joined the game". Though when this happens, he never actually joins the server because he can't due to the ban. This does not stop him. Any idea if there are any security holes in FF we need to be aware of? He's causing people to leave the game in droves. I've installed Sourcemod Anticheat, which prevents command spamming but that obviously didn't help. |

I think if a player is IP banned, then there shouldn't be a "joined" message.
I'd say either he's on a different IP and gets kicked due to a SteamID ban, or he's banned using a plugin which doesn't use srcds' built-in IP banning, but rather let's a player connect and then kicks the player based on the IP. So advice is do rcon listip and check if the player's most recent logged IP matches with this list. Last edited by pizzahut; 04-30-2015 at 08:49 PM. |

One way to partially get rid of him is to whitelist players. Now unfortunately that ruins it for new players who have no contact with server admins. This option also does not protect against his DOSing which honestly there is no protection against.
Luckily he's the only one doing this but the only thing we can hope for is him to just go away.

Didn't Ricey have a solution, or does it not work any more (whatever he did)?

It's possible NFO might have some kind of protection for it that you have to request or something. I'll text Rice tonight about it
EDIT: All rice said was that NFO servers are good so it's something on their end

pizzahut, it was an rcon ban that I did and can do easily via the NFO server cpanel and his IP is listed in the banlist. The message "Player is joining the server" means they are attempting to do so and will show up for every person who tries to connect, including people who are banned. It is only when you actually see them on the scoreboard (even if they haven't yet picked a team they'll appear in Unassigned) and when the welcome sound plays, that indicates they've successfully connected.
This is also happening in Snatch's server as well as a couple others I cant think of the names of. NFO does have protection, however it costs $. I've also been talking to them about this issue and they have yet to pinpoint the problem. Last edited by KubeDawg; 04-30-2015 at 09:00 PM. |
