source sdk sucks dick. Ive spent like 2 hours already troubleshooting 4 different issues just to get it to load. I feel like the people that get paid by valve to program these kind of things could probably do a better job rite?

Oh no, you had some problems with an SDK, so it must mean it sucks ass...

The Source SDK launcher as a tool has effectively been obsoleted two full times at this point.

The latest released version of the Source SDK (2013) does not use the Source SDK launcher, and instead packages its own tools (Hammer, etc) for distribution with the SDK and then requires .bat files to launch them.

And the 2013 engine is in the process of being obsoleted as Valve works on Source 2, which has a completely different toolset (I'm assuming; see the Dota 2 tools for what looks like a preview of them).

So, yeah, Valve could do a better job if they cared even a little bit about something that zero people at Valve have any reason to even think about anymore. Don't expect it to get any better. It's honestly surprising that it still works at all.
