The Dutch and their bicycles

I just came across this link:

Clicky!

And I found it very humorous to read how this (ignorant) American looks upon us (apparently) crazy Dutch people and read about all our (apparently) weird bicylce behaviours.

Seriously though.. I think it's obvious that he's been raised in a lazy 'motorized' culture and I can't believe how he's constantly whining about wearing helmets (why?!), dynamo's (always around!), etc. Probably the reason why we love bikes has much to do with the fact that we live in a very densely populated country..

So... are we really that weird?

More countries need to adopt this form of transport!

IT WILL DESTROY FATNESS AND REDUCE CO2 EMISSIONS THAT WOULD KEEP THE GOVERNMENT, THE WORLD AND ITS INHABITANTS (with the exception of trees and other life forms, perhaps) HAPPY LOL

Bicycling around is great and all when you live in a densely populated area. However, it's not feasible when you gotta travel more than just a few miles to get someplace.

I think most of his whining about you guys not wearing helmets was sarcastic, if you read his "unrelated" helmet rant.

But yes, it's fairly "weird" to someone who rarely, if ever, sees people biking around as a primary means of transportation (aside from children).
