Back when Star Trek: Voyager was on, people regularly released full MST's of episodes on newsgroups. At least that show was good for something lol.

I think Trek needs to remain dead for another 5 years or so. TNG was good as a remake of the old show; DS9 was interesting and broke the mold somewhat. But Voyager and Enterprise were just horrible. Less bad than just utterly derivative of TNG and trying to copy its formula, etc. They bored the hell out of me.
I also think any new Trek series should break continuity with the old shows, like Battlestar did. The history, and need to keep continuity, really limited what they could do- especially on DS9, which could have been a lot better had they been allowed to "mess with" the Trek universe more. Farscape and Battlestar have raised the bar, too- if they try to do the same formula over again like they did with Voyager and Enterprise, it's going to bomb. People want more from a show now than stand-alone episodes and the same cliched plot formulas every week. Ron Moore, who does Galactica, used to be a Trek writer and he intentionally writes against a lot of the old Trek and sci-fi show conventions. |

Probably one of my favorite moments ever was during the DS9 episode "Take Me Out To The Holosuite". (The DS9 crew is playing baseball against an all-Vulcan starship crew in a holosuite.) When Sisko asks to hear some chatter, and everyone starts going "Hey, batter batter" you hear Worf say "Death to the opposition!" xD I heard one of the ideas for a new series of Star Trek being tossed around was something on Section 31 and another was based around the Temporal department or something... that woulda been sweet. =\ |

MST3K...the only way in which Santa Claus vs The Martian got any serious consideration! And the Planet of the Apes got the true critique it needed.
