Let's play "Old School" for now
OK Fortress fans! It's time to "Get your Quake on" and have some fun until we get FF.
Quake III Fortress Xtreme has been finally released! Are you wanting to play a great "Old School" shooter that may bring back some memories? Well, look no further! The staff of PlanetTFX.com has fixed and modded the original Q3F1H to bring the best Quake version of TF back to life again! Here is what you need to get fragging "Old School"............. Quake III Arena (A fresh install is highly recommended) Quake III Arena 1.32 Point Release update (Download HERE) Q3FX 1.0 Full (Download HERE) Note: Allow Q3FX to overwrite any old Q3F files if installed previously. After install, please go to the directory (C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\q3f) and find the icon to right-click and send to desktop and name it Q3FX. Also read the "Grenade Timers" and "Comms" to help enhance gameplay. Start Q3FX from the icon you set or from the "Mods" section in Quake III Arena. Be sure to set your player name, bind keys for "grenades", "Special", "HE charge menu", etc. The "in-game" browser will show multiple Quake Games even when filtered, so I recommend to get the free game browser called "All Seeing Eye" (Download Free Here) You can find Q3FX using the All Seeing Eye by selecting "Quake 3 Arena" and hitting the "Refresh" button. Open all folders under Quake 3 Arena named "Other" and select the last folder named "Other". Look for #Plusnet Q3FX server (Demon servers are running an older version and you will not be able to connect). Here is an example....................... We only have one server up at the moment thanks to our friends over at Wolfstuff for providing it! Be sure to visit them for Linux/Mac files and server news that will be up soon. Hopefully others playing this game will help out with more servers. To connect without All Seeing Eye, simply start Q3FX, and pull down the console by hitting the "tilde" key next to the (1) on your keyboard that looks like this....... ~ Type this................. /connect 212.159.6.229 then hit "Enter" Or start Q3FX, go to "Multiplayer" then "Specify" and type the IP there and the port should be 27960. More help and info on the game will be posted onPlanet TFX. For now, let's Frag! Last edited by o_mullet man; 12-25-2006 at 02:27 PM. |

We might even have a total of 3 servers up by the end of the week. We have found one small bug. A few of the added maps have no sky, but I did not notice this until someone told me since I turn off "Fastsky" in my config.
We will fix that later. As long as the gameplay is the way it was intended, then I am fine with that for now. |

Wolfstuff was fast for me. Only thing I can find at BY is the point release and the original Q3F, but not Q3FX.

Are the servers actually getting full? If so, I can put up a server on one of my BSD boxes.

The game is 3 days old since the release. We have had the Plusnet server get traffic all day and the Slashquit gets busy in the morning then again at night.
They have yet to fill up....................... |

If you don't have Quake 3 Arena, you are missing out on some great gaming! There are still over 1000 servers running Q3A! |

hm. Although I'm skeptical as hell at any attempt to revive q3f, the interest here has infected me. I shall install/download.
