Gates to retire in 2008
http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/p...orpNewsPR.mspx
REDMOND, Wash. — June 15, 2006 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that effective July 2008 Bill Gates, chairman, will transition out of a day-to-day role in the company to spend more time on his global health and education work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The company announced a two-year transition process to ensure that there is a smooth and orderly transfer of Gates’ daily responsibilities, and said that after July 2008 Gates would continue to serve as the company’s chairman and an advisor on key development projects. |

IIRC Gates actually has always had a love for the Development and Engineering side of things and has kept some touch with certain projects. Who knows what this means really. :whoknows:

He's a smart man, donations mean tax breaks and kickbacks. That way Uncle Sam doesn't get everything.

There's been plenty of threads about Gates and Microsoft. There's no one here (outside of Travis ) who wants to see Gates promoted to sainthood. |

Who the fuck declared him a saint? Giving that money to charity's the least he could do.
Also, I doubt Travis wants to see him promoted, he's just tired of seeing morons claim everything Microsoft puts out is shit because they can't work it properly. If I'd had half as many problems as people claim to get from Windows, I'd've given up computing years ago. Jesus. Here's a good one I heard not long ago. "My wireless internet isn't working. I restarted and it didn't fix it. Fucking Windows." People fucking baffle me sometimes.

And I think it's at least a little wierd that anyone on a game forum can dislike gates...
Pffft, damnit. I was gonna make some joke about seeing Gates' house every time I drive across Lake Washington and post a picture of a really evil looking fortress but google wasn't giving up the goods. :/ |

never bitched about microsoft/windows...never will....call me a conformist, but hey, ya know, all i want to do is play games and check email.
never understood the microsoft bitching. cry about a buggy update system or faulty browser? deal with it. there are alternatives out there. wanna cry about microsoft being the man and keeping u down? meh....get a life. develop ur own better solution. start a multi billion dollar company from the ground up and see what challenges u have, and when pressed with difficult decesions, what course u take. all i wanna do is have fun. gimmie a platform to do it on and im there. hatin' microsoft is so en vouge. i just cant stand wannabe independents with nothing real to offer. |

Indeed. I found a site that had a lot of handy tweaks to make things run smoother. I wish I could find it...
Also, a lot of the time when people bitch about something about Windows it's 'cause tey've got a virus screwing something up because they're idiots about being online. |
