Oh, most people don't even know what rootkits are, I don't see what the big deal was.

I back the blu-ray simply due to greater storage capacity - a max of 50GB, 20 ahead of HD-DVD. Why have less when you can have more, at the same size?!? HD-DVD is taking a step backwards surely.

It's the insidious nature of Sony's oversealous actions with DRM. It's completely incompatible with acceptable uses under "Fair Use". I'll take lower capacity free of DRM restrictions over larger capacity under the DRM umbrella any day...and I am not one of the pirates that Sony is targeting.

I think most consumers will give both camps a collective "up yours" until they start producing reasonably priced drives that do both

haha paraphrase of the Sony BGM president if I recall correctly?

I think both are mediocre in terms of capacity from a computer-user's standpoint. I despise Sony, but be assured that both will have irritating DRM. Doubt it will last long once the players are in PC's, though.

At this point they are both pointless to me. Overpriced, and at this point my TV doesn't even take advantage of DVD-quality... why should I give a shit about this HD stuff?

How long before we see firmware hacks to bypass the DRM BS once Bluray hits the market with a vengeance?

You can bet whatever DRM is on the PS3 will be hacked around in weeks (or less!)
