Random CP Map Idea
Well, I just had a random thought for a map idea. It would be a capture point map, and each team would start in some techy room or something, and there would be a teleporter. The teleporter would send a Red player (for example) to a random point in Area 1. There are 4 Areas, each with a command point, and Red starts by teleporting into Area 1, Blue starts by teleporting into Area 4, and both Area 1 and Area 4 have access to Area 2 and Area 3. Graphical representation makes things much easier:
Each area could be something small and randomly different: a small section of a city with horns blaring and crumbling buildings, a deep section of a forest lake, snow-capped mountains or an oil rig. It could be spiced up with teleportation effects (electricity shots fly out of people who teleport in), in-depth soundscapes and more. Hell, this project could even be cooperative among mappers, with each devising and using painstaking detail on a small piece of a map they know they can do well. My questions are: 1. Was anything like this done for TFC, and did it suck? 2. Would the random different areas make the map too varied and confusing? |

That'd be a good community map. Interesting idea, too. I think the variations in the layout would make it more confusing than variations in locale, but I couldn't say for sure.

Like, on a new round the 4 locations would be switched around?

No, like, the "techy" region has a bunch of overlapping walkways and complicated architecture, then there's like a "plains" region that's all flat land with a few small structures. That could get confusing, especially if you don't know where you're headed.
