New Map Idea: Capsule
Very basic. New gameplay type (sort of like soccer) on very basic map. In the center of a long hall or hourglass shaped arena is a humongous cylinder or capsule (like 20'tall and 60' wide). Shooting the capsule will make it move. To score points the winning team must shoot the capsule into the opponents goal.
It is better than a ball because it it more unpredictable in it's movement than a ball and could catch players, and crush them, roll over them with it's size and bizarre bouncing. Adding lumps or knobby objects in the arena would give air time to the capsule / cylinder. |

Sounds like a fun idea. I would definatly try it out.
Also, sourceball has not been released yet. [It looked like you were saying it as if it was, sorry if you were not] |

I'd love to play anything that can be described with the words 'Meaty Hash'.

This map reminds me of Crossfire. After it does that, it reminds me of the horrible 80's crossfire song.
"CROSSFIRE! YOU'LL GET CAUGHT UP IN THE... CROSSFIRE! CROSSFIRE! CROSSFIRE! CROSSFIIIIIIRE!" |

But wheres the skill? As far as I can tell the gameplay would revolve around loads of people spamming the ball to move it. It would have novelty appeal but I can't see people playing it longterm because there would be no tactics.

I don't know, eat. It'd involve class play, for sure. Like soldiers and demos would have the explosives, so they'd be in charge of actually moving the thing around. You'd have HWs and snipersfiring at them from the sides, and other classes doing different things. I suppose the trouble is that the whole thing necessarily takes place in a wide open area, which limits gameplay variety quite a bit.

I'll build it and have a rim or ridge around the arena for snipers and whatnot, I am building maps this weekend. Talk to you soon.
