Team Relay (tr_) map type
So I was playing the original Mario, and I got an idea for a new FF gametype. It's an odd combination of Concmaps, mario-type levels, and teamwork.
- There is only one team (I'm sure you could come up with variants where there are 2 teams). - There is a maximum of one member of each class on the team (once there are 9 players, a maximum of 2 of each class opens up, but this is intended for small numbers of players) - The map is somewhat linear and there are perposterous hazards (crushing walls, fireballs, acid pits, etc.) and jumping/timing puzzles where players must use teamwork. An example is a vast pit that a sniper must headshot a teammate across, and the teammate can then raise a bridge across the pit. Another example is a complex running course where crushing walls move in every few seconds - only a scout is fast enough to navigate it. Or a chamber of gas (to which only the medic is immune, and they must heal teammates quickly while everyone runs through it, or waits for an elevator or something). I assume it wouldn't have much replay value, but on the other hand it wouldn't take much to make. What do y'all think? Are there any other single- or mulitple- class-based hazards you can think of? |

There were maps kind of like that for TFC. They were called conc race maps or something. There were 2 identicle courses that had various conc jumps to challenge 2 players who raced against each other. They were pretty damn good.

The problem is, all of these suggestions are easily workaroundable. A sniper can shoot something across the "scout crusher," a scout/medic can conc across the "sniper shooter" or through the "scout crusher." So you've got to REALLY plan this map.

Assuming I make a team relay map, I would have to do a lot of planning. It'll be exciting (I hope..). |

just dont allow people to conc in particular areas or whatever! or make it so snipers die the moment they enter an area, or they can't fire in it or something!

This seems like a lot of fun. I'd probably give it a go or two. I especially like that gas chamber suggestion. "Everybody huddle 'round the med!"

or you can just remove concs once they enter that area.. not hard to do.
This can be done in tfc right now. and another good feature headz already requested I believe was a change class function so that ppl can have there class dynamictly changed without dyeing.. this would be something you could use in this type of map. |
