Curing Infection?

Are there any plans to add another way to cure the Medic's infection?
Currently only the medic class is capable of curing it and if a team doesn't have a medic, it is pretty much a guaranteed kill. Also some attack/defend maps don't allow medics on defense so there is no way to cure infection.

I heard that the planned way to cure was to confess your love for the yellow team and renounce your status as blue or red.


Maybe it could be as simple as walking into your respawn, hitting the resupply and hey presto -- cured.

They should allow map-makers to include healthkits that cure infection if they so choose, but nerfing infection too much would cause it to rarely be worth the effort.

I'm not sure map changes are necessary as that would require all the old ones to be changed to add infection healing bags. Instead maybe have entering spawn automatically heal infection since people who die from it would respawn there anyway or add the ability to heal infections to one other class also.

Or just get rid of a shitty mechanic that damages players for you with no effort after the initial touch which only serves to have people kill themselves in game to avoid giving away the kill to the enemy Medic.

I wouldn't say it takes no effort: you have to get within melee range of the player first, which with stronger classes is often tricky. But I agree, it is by no means a good thing to have all a player's health tick away after one hit. Still, when combined with concs and exposed battlements it's a good cheap tactic to use against snipers. Dx

The initial melee damage takes effort. The damage over time takes no effort. I can infect something then leave my computer to go make a sandwich. When I return, they would have probably taken a ton of damage from the infection all of which I would not have actively earned. Infection just needs to be removed. It's nothing more than a novelty mechanic that pisses people off.
