Would you wait in line overnight or longer to buy a cell phone?

I'm just not connecting with why people wait overnight outside of a store for something like a cell phone. Anyone here do something like this?

No, and the iphone is retarded. I want a cellphone to call people not to have a mini computer on it.

I agree. I guess I cannot think of a single consumer product in my lifetime that was worth sitting outside a store for days so that I could be amongst the first to have it.

I've only gone to midnight releases for games.. and even then it was only for the excitement of getting to hang out with fellow gamers. [a few times guys have come in with their vans, which were pimped with a tv + console, and started a tournament for the wait].

I am content with my cellphone... it really doesn't need to do anything else.

OMG! I tried to camp out outside the Apple store but I kept having an ORGASM every time someone said the word "iPhone" so I had to go home and clean up my $10,000 pants.

Lol Well I broke my phone recently (screen cracked after stepping on it while freaking out after almost getting my eye poked out by a flying flaming stick) So I got to get a new one. But I don't plan on sitting outside any store overnight to get one. That's just retarded.

I haven't used my cell phone in three months.

It's because I'm unpopular.

Anyway, yeah, waiting overnight for anything is retarded.

i dont think i would wait outside overnight to buy anything. ever. no technological device is worth wasting valuable sleeping/gaming/jerking off time for.

not even a device that will jack me off. thats just weird.

I was spoiled for a year when I dated a girl who had a sidekick. Having that thing was really usefull actually. Directions, door prices, resturant locator, quickly seeing who is right/wrong in a heated debate, sport scores, aim, porn, texts, calls, forum checking, looking up numbers, store hours, and so on.

It actually is very usefull to have a phone that can do all of that for 39 a month.

I would't ever buy an iphone, or wait in line for one. but if one was given to me, youd be damn sure I would take it.

Waiting overnight? Dumb. Going to stand in line at 10 PM to see Batman in IMAX form at midnight this Thursday? Well, that's another, awesome story.

I hate cell phones. I used to love having one but now I have two. They are an electronic leash. Just another interruption when you least expect it. Wait inline for a
cell phone or even an overpriced "iPhone"? Forget it! I have bills to pay and then there is that $4 a gallon thing.

No I wouldn't. Especially the iPhone.

Also, while I don't work with att anymore I still talk to my old employees and the like. The company I used to work for was an authorized retailer and not a corporate store, so they didn't get to carry the iPhone (either one). It's so marked on the store. However, that didn't stop 8 people from lining up at my old store to get one.

One of them had been there since 6:45 am (we open at 10). When the my old employee got there they all very patiently waved, said "hi" and told him they gave each other numbers as they got there as to be fair to each other. Then he told them he didn't carry the phone and they all flipped out, screamed cursed, threatend and left. I find their misery to be intensely enjoyable. I almost wish I could have told them myself that they couldn't get it and they were fools for waiting in the first place.

Wow, that's an awesome story.

I wouldn't wait in line for a phone. I would and have waited in line for a console, a few movies and a few games. I think a console is surely the only consumer product that I would wait all night in line for.

I've noticed the gaming industry makes it more of an event for those things though. I've waited in line when I wasn't even buying the product I was waiting for. I just wanted to chill with my friends and play some Halo, which we did. Plus we met people, surprisingly, cute girls were there. I was too confused by their presence though.
