G5 Mouse and Firefox

So I recently got a Logitech G5 (v2) mouse. My main annoyance is that hitting mid click correctly is hard and often results in a left or right tilt. In Firefox, hitting the tilt will scroll through all my tabs and this is quite annoying. I've been looking for help or an extension that will fix this, any idea?

I'm going to poke at the drivers and hope for the best...

I don't have the same mouse you have, but I've had similar problems with my current mouse. I've just gotten used to it after a while.

I can't stand it.
I just need some way to set a side button to "open in a new background tab" to make me happy, but I can't.

Heres my advice, use the mouse as often as you can, eventually you'll get used to it and won't press it incorrectly anymore. I had the same problem with mine, but after using my mouse for a few weeks it was no longer a problem.

i just dont use the middle button

to be honest they should have made the middle click either easier, or moved the whole button elsewhere. as for firefox, i just use ctrl + click to open in a new tab

It's been ages since I configured my G5.. Somehow I have my middle button set to open up tabs that I've closed if I click on the tab bar- or if I'm on a tab, it will close it. I don't much use it though.
Only thing I don't like about the mouse is the forward button. Mostly because it's not there.

Get the Tab Mix Plus extension, you can change tab events. Also, do you have the Logitech software installed for the G5? It's actually really, really useful. If you do have it installed, you can set the side button to act as the middle button.

The G5 "v2" does have one though. While there isn't really a name change there are G5s that have TWO thumb buttons. My college has a good 20 one the first G5s and I was shocked to see that they removed one of the side buttons...

Mine is blue instead of the greenish you see here, but here's a pic from google:

I do the the drivers installed, so I'll try to find that feature... I hope i can make it only for firefox. I know you can do minds, but you can't bind "ctl+left click" to a button because you can't bind left click :-\

Is that a power meter on a wired mouse?

You can have profiles on a per program basis, so you can set it so only Firefox recognizes the side button as the middle button.

edit: The latest version of the software can be found here. Be sure to select the right operating system, I went to download it on my laptop and almost missed that Vista is selected by default.

It displays the sensitivity setting of your mouse, which by default is changed by the + and - buttons underneath the scroll wheel. I found it annoying as hell so I changed those buttons' functions immediately.

Ah. Had me wondering for a bit.

Btw, do you actually USE the 2k DPI? If you're not going to use the higher DPI, there's little point in buying one when you can get lower DPI mice that are still high and just as good.

I don't; I bought it when I felt like spending an excess of money on something from Newegg after I got my first job.

Ya, I run it at the lowest settings, but it takes a while to get used to.
It was given to me as a 21st birthday present from my parents since I don't drink.

Well I won't object then :P. I've learned to make use of the 1.6k DPI on my DB.
