New Release: ff_congestus
Sorry about the new thread, having a new username leaves me unable to edit the old thread's first post and title.
In any case, here it is: http://files.filefront.com/ff+conges.../fileinfo.html Included are the files and installation instructions. Staying true to the TFC version, ff_congestus is a fast paced CTF map set in an unspecified desert. The core gameplay elements and major dimensions are all the same as in TFC, so no complaints all right ! Of course, the visuals have been updated, especially in the flagroom. Take a look: (keep in mind, these areas appear much darker than their in-game conterparts) One change old players might notice is the lack of grenades in the resupply bags. Anyone who has dropped the flag in the ramproom/basement should know why this has been done (and I'll assume just about anyone who's ever played this map has done so)! No need to worry Medics and Scouts, the bags still fully restock concs. Anyone interested in hosting a download mirror, PM me and I'll include the link in this thread. |

Sweet another excellent TFC map port for FF.
I am uploading it to our fast download & clan server now (8.6.8.213:27015) and will definitely put it in the rotation. Thanks for making this classic map!

Looks like an incredible remake. Love the new flag room and the attention to detail just outside of play. Nice job. Will download.
**Thanks for doing it as a zip. I dont have win rar since reformatting. I just use the default windows zip now and it works great.** Last edited by Racer; 09-30-2007 at 04:10 AM. |

Thanks kam. <3 And everyone else, thanks for the compliments! I also have another map near completion for you all (which will take an undetermined amount of time to complete based on my laziness). |

It looks great, everything about it looks really polished and natural (I think you could have used a better texture for the ramp in pictures 7 and 8, though)
I love the new style; I especially like what you done with the ramp room. An improvement over your original remake! |

I must admit, I wasn't sure about that roof in the flagroom...but it plays so nice, that I'm highly impressed with it. Very well done!!

played the map with a few people yesterday, people say the map is a big spam map!
people said it's awsome map, nice eye-candy, nice architecture and much more. |

On a public server this map is awful :P
2 sentry guns and engineers, 2 hw guys, multiple soldiers, a demoman and grenades all resting on the flag :P Still great fun to play, even on a public server |

Personally i think the map is far too O oriented for leagueplay, as it's just a capfest. But it's fun. gj

With the flag picking up from so far away I swear that some of the flag pickups were actually out of range of my pipes (on the flag) when I played earlier as demo.
That said, the map looks awesome and as expected from congestus, appears to be rather fun. |

I like the map a lot both from a layout perspective (fresh and different) and an artistic perspective (real nice remake). I have 2 or 3 suggestions just from a 3rd perspective and see if anyone agrees or disagrees... very subtle things...
In the picture below we see some big blue grey tiles mixed in with a wheat or off-white colored flooring. It almost looks good at the bottom where the two textures line up well but at the top where it meets the hall I'm more convinced a less saturated tile would work better; perhaps a metal color or a sand tile. I like the bottom blue flooring just not the sloped texture choice. In the picture below I think the tile floor into the base seems odd. I think you went with a curved hump and a square tile texture. I'd suggest either making the hump less smooth conforming to the texture shape or swapping the texture at the hump and maybe outside too with just a smooth concrete or sand texture. A simple idea would be to discontinue the blue tile at the apex of the ramp and to fill in the outside with the same texture used on the bordering. These are just suggestions. I love what you did with this map. Especially in the hall with the concave ceiling and the flagroom enclosure. |

Looks extremely polished and might as well be an official map! Can't wait to test it out...
