Brevard (NC) - A 14-year-old boy was knocked unconscious and sent to the hospital as a result of trying to cool off his Xbox 360 over the weekend.

According to a local news report, the teen's console would repeatedly shut off every five minutes. His mother told reporters that he thought the problem was likely linked to overheating. He reportedly tried to fix it on his own based on tips he found online.

"When I left to go next door he was playing a game but when I got back he was laying on his back on the floor and unconscious," said the boy's mother.

Local media reports suggest that the teenager took the power supply, wrapped it in plastic and tape, and submerged it into a bowl of water while it was still plugged in. This caused an electrical shock and knocked the boy unconscious.

His mother called 911 and paramedics rushed him to Transylvania Community Hospital in Brevard, North Carolina. He spent the night there and was treated for minor burns to his right hand and foot.

Obviously, the problem was that the water was just too hot.

Exactly how did THIS work?!

Electrical wounds have an entrance and an exit wound, just like a gunshot wound, except the entrance wound is usually less graphic on an electrical wound.
Since I couldn't find any good images on google, I took some pictures from my EMT-B textbook, and a picture of the description of electrical wounds.

Pay me $70. I'm going to be taking EMT-I this coming semester(as in the one that starts in 3 days, the Fall semester) and I'll be taking the NRE to be certified as an EMT-Basic here soon. So next I get to learn how to stick people, and possibly intubate, not too sure about the last one though.

Haha probably not, but we had this one guy in my class that just went right at it, I swear the sternum of the dummy hit the spine a few times. I also find it awesome that for getting the speed right for cpr(100 bpm), the AHA recommends using the song "Staying Alive" to help people get it right. I can't even think about doing CPR without hearing that song.

Plus you would think he would have at least asked for a parent or someone else to help him out.
