Since i have nothing better to do im gonna start a website. What bugs me is that i want www.lindgren.com and as you can see there is nothing there except some weirdo spampage. So i wonder is there anyway i can get this domain anyway?

And im wondering where i can get domainnames cheap.

I use ipowerweb.com and I like them. For under $100 a year you get a free doman, 300GB of space and 3TB of bandwidth.

Wont really need any webspace or any bandwidth really, ill just write in text and post links to youtube. its going to be abit abstract and artsy, youll see :P

I doubt you'll get it for a long time tbh. Once the person who registered it decides they don't want it, one of the large domain companies (just like TUCOWS/Netidentity) snap it up and just hold on to it for years until someone buys it.

The fact that you've linked to it won't help you much either as the owner can see stats on how many people are visiting the domain plus the domains 'value' will increase slightly with each inbound link.

You'd be better off going for a .net/.org/.co.uk or whatever or just pick a different domain name.

Okay, here is how it works:

1) Some idiot buys a domain that he does nothing with.

2) He fucks up or gives up, and the domain falls into disuse.

3) Domain expires, some other company snatches it up.

4) Company tracks the domain's stats to see how in demand it is. That determines the price.

My father has a fairly common name. Let us say it was something like jimjones. The company who is holding the name of my father wants $5,000 for the domain simply because it is a common name that is "high in demand" (so high in demand, in fact, that they have yet to sell it to anyone).

Domains are first come, first serve, and a lot of people take the greatest advantage of that that they can.

I have a certain name I want to use for my production company, but I dare not speak it in a public place for fear that someone will snatch up the domain and charge me several hundred (or thousand) dollars to get it. Until I can afford to get it, I keep it quiet and hope no one finds out.

I dealt with a cybersquatter years ago. Initially he tried that wheeling and dealing nonsense but after I cited the relevant sections of the ACPA he turned the domain over to me. Cybersquatters are scum and should be given no quarter. In our case we had open and notorious use of the business name for nearly 20 years. He had nothing to support any claim to the domain name.

I just bought TeamFortressXtreme from Godaddy for $18.00 and it is a 2 year registration.

I got 120 GB of space 1,200 GB of bandwidth for $5 a month. And it came with 2 free top level domains.

I have yet to have a problem with them.
