the way i think it flies:
i'm bringing up etf again. etf was polished, almost bugless when released at janurary, enjoyed a great first 4 months of active scene and community and bam, the following summer it started to show signs of deterioration. oldskool qwtf people disliked the new feel to the beloved game (read: they got their asses kicked by relatively unknown players) and left. tfc people did the same as it was nowhere near tfc. i was one of the few new people lured into the tf scene by etf. when i said that etf is one of my most favorite games ever, i got laughed at because "etf is no qwtf/tfc, i wasn't there man, how could i possibly know?", that's how great the existing community was. i stayed however because i liked the game and found some openminded people there too. the same will happen here. if this isn't a direct copy of tfc (as i'm lead to believe it isn't) the tfc community will take a huge dump on this after a while and people will desert and laugh at the few new people who like this. (ofcourse, these are not the only causes that gave etf a short lifespan) tf in general is getting shafted. people aren't bothering to to learn the games they play today, they just want something that is clear from start to finish. it's all "take this, shoot that, get points" these days. nothing more, nothing less. so it really doesn't - in that sense - matter if the team releases a beta or not, since the whole tf thing is all about old fans trying to recreate the thrill of the olden days and no new masses are interested since it is not the trend anymore. i won't mind though, it's (hopefully) something fun to play for a while when it comes out. all i'm saying with my "update please" -posts is that some more regular updates would be nice for the sake of maximising the interest of every potential player there is to expand the lifespan of this mod. i might suggest releasing short pov videos of the class in action now that you are in beta (or atleast very close to it), there shouldn't be anything classified there anyway right? got a bit sidetracked there and came in way too late but whatever, time for me to post something with some input anyway. i really hope the things mentioned here won't happen again but the odds are against it. |

first post is a retarded reason to release
but i (and Valve) think mod developers should not act like professional game developers and try to make everything perfect |
