While we're on the subject of CS maps, how bout a hunted map based on as_oilrig?

pssst... check out ff_oilrig in the beta. Mushy ported it a while ago (in 2010) but we only played it a few times.

Hell yeah oilrig was a good map. Would really like to see a new vegas map to go along with 747. Used to make alot of dod maps but sadly no time anymore.

I don't feel like checking through all the pages of replies, So I guess I'll just ask, instead.
Has anyone started work on epicenter? If not, I can probably get working on it.

To my knowledge, epicenter is an official FF map. I know it definitely exists. Open up FF and hit create game to check what maps you have.

I didn't see it on the list, and I thought it was. How about rock2 and congestus? I thought I saw some screen shots of rock2 but nothing regarding congestus,

I think I remember playing congestus, haven't seen the finished version of rock2. Is there any way of definitively telling which maps are done and which aren't? I just reinstalled FF about a month ago so my map list is lacking.

Epicenter -is- a stock FF map, but it's absolutely awful. There's a round based thing to it, or something I haven't even played it in forever. But they moved away from the simple "score cap, get points, continue on" methodology which worked fine.

IIRC there's also some weird shit with how the flags open up at the start, but again, having not played it in over a year, I couldn't tell you.

Congestus is a stock map, rock2 was being made by gambit here http://forums.fortress-forever.com/s...ighlight=rock2 , but as far as I know that's died. Someone did a simple port of it from TFC, but it's not very good (ff_rock2_qnd_b8 by Pon, here http://forums.fortress-forever.com/s...ighlight=rock2 ).

Another map which never got out of development was badlands, discussed here http://forums.fortress-forever.com/s...dlands&page=58 , the problem is that nothing's been done in years on it - it is floating around out there, but the map kinda sucks because there are a million extra additions that are unnecessary. About four extra ways into the flag room, for instance. Regardless, it looks amazing (one of the best looking FF maps IMO) and is fairly well optimized, no FPS issues on that map.

This is one of my gripes -- there really isn't any definitive way of telling which maps are done and which aren't. There are a lot of maps out there which seem done, but still have the beta tag after their name. Then there are some maps that have the beta tag and are far from finished.

The only reason the quick & dirty port of Rock2 sucks is because it's too big. The map just seems like it takes forever to get to the enemy base, let alone do the objective. I'd like to see it remade, but about 7/8-3/4 scale.

It may seem well optimized, but once you go down into the valley in Badlands, your frame rate drops like crazy rendering this map unplayable. I'd love if someone just ported TF2's version of Badlands over as it is actually a pretty decent version of the map. Badlands was one of the most popular TFC maps and if someone did this right, they could probably ensure that it continues to be very popular in FF.

So if we are porting maps over from tfc, and trying to keep them as close to what was in tfc we should be naming them "map"_classic?
I'm working on a map right now, I made it for tfc about 5 or so years ago. it's called raven, I'm not sure whether I want to make it ctf, avd or flag advance. I haven't gotten that far. Although I have talked to Ze and he thinks it might be tight for ctf. Here's a screenshot of what I've got so far. About 15-20 hours in.

That seems to be the naming trend. But I don't know how many maps would work well as direct ports. Seems to me that TFC maps are a little cramped for FF.

There are I think 2 rats maps and 1 turkeyburgers map for FF and the turkeyburgers port seems to be the most popular, although sometimes wcrats is pretty fun too.
