What happened to the slope towards the bridge in http://myriam.5gigs.com/stijn/ff_bad...nds_b10011.jpg ? Removing it removes a conc from the map :/ Was useful sliding up it and then to the bridge

After all it is Badlands, not Badsmalltinyenclosedareas. Very good effort though, I'm just bitching and wouldn't be able to put in the work you are doing. But you do need to make it much larger.
Agreed.

its seems small, but it is becouse of the canyon height, it is a little higher than the original and maybe becouse of the subdevided walls ...

  • OMG, i've checked, the sizes are not exact like in badlands, the canyon is larger, the base a little (verry little) smaller
    the small canyon is 1:1
the large canyon now is like 5:4 in lengt and 1:1 in width

uhu, but its even worse if i don't do that.
i'm still searching good textures,
1024*1024 for the rocks (reduce repeating textures )
256*256 for the sand (repeatable becouse of the useage of details and alpha)

yeah, maybe, i was thinking of using the rock models (props_wastelend/...) from counter-strike, but for some reason i can't port them over :s

if you look at my other level, you see how good those models are doing in a canyon with the SAME textures

Sorry do be so picky on the bridge, was having a bad day Good work so far keep it up.

Also I dont know if this has been said, but the top of cliffs should not be dead flat/straight. As the saying goes, nothing in nature straight, or something :E

bad day or not, you were right

uhu, nothing is straight
thas why i'm going to create a 3d skybox.

but the rocks are far from finished
in the central part you could see the bride from inside the sniper tower, this is not possible at the moment ...

Hmm... you say it's sand? I thought it was snow.

Browns, tans, a speckle of black and white will make you sand. I should know, I live by beaches! :P

same as push, i don't recognise that map!
2rock > same
hunted > same
canalzone > almost
crossover > the center is totally different

You are right, it's hard to turn maps to source.
It would be easier to say if I could actully play it.

Edit: I got it! Now I know what I think is wrong with it. Pretty much all reason why middle parts of eart go deserted is that sun shines from above and there aint much shadows. You should put the sun more above and give the place more light and less shadow. After that it's better

but i've found some q3 textures for this type of rocks

here are some screens: the sun a little higher and the new rocks
(damd, need to compile first, this version is pitch black due a problem with the skybox)

those last few shots look a million times better. my only suggestion would be to make the sun angle a bit steeper (its a desert remember )

Most of the europeans use dd.mm.yyyy instead of mm.dd.yyyy

Thanks a lot mr usa (I cant see the screens (just a empty box to me) so I just go off-topic.)
