I always thought it should've been something he drops and 'sets up' (as some kind of build time is required) than a massive looking machine that he builds.

More like some pod on the floor that projects a radius over the ground defining the jumpable area, once the jumpable area has expanded fully then the pad is 'built'. Not sure how that'd work so well on uneven ground though.

I'm not a real fan of the way the jumppads look tbh - kinda clunky and yes its kinda odd he pulls that massive machine out of his ass being a man with talents of speed (not machinary!). I've not voiced that oppinion before though.

i think that if jump pads stay in the game they should be built by the engineer not the scout i know it makes sense but this way it emphasizes more on team play and having and engineer on both offense and defense. in some situations.

I agree, but it's unfortunate because doing that would mess up the current flow of pro games (ff_catharsis_b3, which is really amazing). From what I learned last night, the engie/sentry is really just meant as a distraction to take pressure off of the demo man. The attacking team has no reason to have an engie class(since they are all rushing to get the flag)-- whether or not that's good or bad, I really don't know.

Actually, I just looked at ff_catharsis again, and both teams have flags. I guess the game I watched last night was pretty one sided. Heh. So maybe an engie would make more sense now for both teams.

LOL, dude that was a 4v4 one team was playing offense and the other defense, remember when we switched teams and the team that was playing offense switched over to defense.. yeah thats how it goes

I play unreliably. Maybe play ff for a couple of weeks then not play again for weeks.

Ouch dude, you hurt my feelings. Are you trying to say that because I'm new to FF I can't offer anything? Also, if you knew how much effort it takes to learn C++ I doubt you'd be saying "cool I guess". I spent last night learning bunny hopping/ double jumping and learning the mechanics of the game. I've also started to get to know some of the people who play as well(and they've been teaching me some stuff as well). So yeah, just C++, level designing skills, sound engineering and composing...that's cool I guess.


But thank you so much for such fine posts as:

Give the guy a break... I dont know C++ but Im glad he's here... It's not like hes taking over the project and changing the game completely. We still have squeek/mushy/elmo to name a few thatll keep the game true to its original design. An extra set of hands can't hurt.

I mean this guy could say "FUCK this game I wanna help with a game that I'll actually get paid for..." but nope he's here because he obviously wants to help see this game succeed... we all do - so stop with the negative shit or gtfo the forums.
