I think FF is a mod where the mapping side is easier than the modelling due to people being more critical of how player models should look/feel (compared to the TFC ones). Mapping is more 'if it looks good' for now and probably easier to finalise than the models.

good interview guys... and to be honest with you.. isn't the code/maps much more important then the models? I mean the code and the maps are what make the gameplay.. models are just eye candy.. bring me simple unskinned polygons!

All three are important. if there were no models, There wouldnt be anything to shoot or shoot at or blow up or explode into a million gibs.

To us, it's important that everything FF is done completely and well. I wouldn't call any area more important than another.

I'd say gameplay is more important than aesthetics.

everyone here thinks that, or else we wouldn't be playing TFC. but good gameplay mixed with some nice eye candy is twice as good.

its no biggie, just the unskinned scout in a pose like he's about to start running in a race with leg back.

AzleGamer: Will Fortress [Forever] cater to new players that have never played the Half-Life 1 modification, or will it be aimed at the hardcore Team Fortress Classic players?

Dospac: In recreating TF for the Source engine, our team's veteran status in the TFC clanning scene assures that we will leave the clan game intact from TFC and hopefully improve upon it. However, a great percentage of our mindshare in developing the gameplay and features of Fortress Forever has been aimed at attracting and keeping new players...

Doesn't anybody here rember team fortress 2.8, 2.9, MegaTF...I'm talking QUAKE classic people. Where it all came from. Team Fortress Classic, Death Match Classic, lets just make it clear that these all started out as Quake or Off Quake as a mod.

Remember your r00ts people.

Oh, and Megatf is still popular. Google it, you can download it for free and play.

Who said we'd forgotten our "r00ts"? QWTF, Megatf, etc. keep getting brought up all the time for references to particular changes that should be made to the mod.

hey just makin sure people know, I myself can't wait for fortress forever to come out.
You think they'll make anything extreme like in MegaTF? (Demoman's Flying grenades, jump jetting scouts, Soldiers Mines, Sniper Alarms, Medic's dropped syringe, etc. etc. )

if they don't, i'll work on a server extension to do it off the mod.

If you don't, someone else just might.

The thing is, they wanna stick to what's considered "core" Fortress gameplay, y'know? Not a lot of entirely weird things like jumpjets and alarms and whatnot (although similar ideas get suggested from time to time). The real bread and butter stuff, to get a sort of simplistic natural balance like we had in TFC. There'll be some new stuff, but nothing too extreme.
