I never did understand the religious standpoint on making Doom not about Hell.
They're frigging FIGHTING Hell. Why is that bad? Why do movies like The Exorcism of Emily Rose get made, then? It's gotta be something else.

Because it weakens the image of Hell.
If Hell is something that can be faught it's purpose as the motivation to be good is lost. The game sorta destroys that by showing people commit acts of murder in order to destroy the place where they go if they murder. Personally I think it's a dumb reason to not have the movie be about Hell. But I don't know that that's the reason. I was under the impression it was just speculation. |
