Tutorial - Railgun Trimping
A movement technique that can be used as engineer to gain a large boost. It occurs when you combine a trimp jump (usually trimping out of a bunnyhop to gain max height) with a railgun jump. Trimping is a movement technique that occurs by jumping onto a ramp and then off it. Your horizontal velocity is converted into vertical velocity, which gains you height. |

You should do more of these.. I'm sure many will find it useful.

What I really wanted to do was do tutorials for nearly every aspect of the game, as well as map + class tutorials, and then find a way, through sourcemod or such, to integrate it into the game through a server by typing "!help" into chat. It would be alot of work and at this point I don't even know if its possible, so I gave up on it. Can some dev tell me if FF even supports something like HTML MoTDs, which is the only way something like this could be possible. Last edited by oaties; 02-22-2012 at 12:10 AM. |

Good stuff. Been doing that schtop jump to button for ages.
To nitpick, that's technically called double jumping. Trimping (in FF) is specific to jumping while rampsliding. Double jumping, however, is not speed-dependent and is triggered by two jumps within a set period of time (hence why jumping, hitting your head on something, and then jumping again will trigger a double jump).

The MOTD in FF right now is almost entirely useless. I hope to improve it and add HTML capability in the future.

If djumping is not based around your speed, why does bhopping into a ramp at 700~ speed on a trimp map give you a greater boost than just jumping into a ramp with a 400 speed? Why do slower classes djump lower than faster classes? Also, a HTML MOTD would be very useful. Last edited by oaties; 02-22-2012 at 08:20 PM. |

I hope this bug stays forever. Super trimping (which "starts" around 580 speed) isn't just good for trimp maps, it's incredibly useful in some places on normal maps. Schtop (JP yard > enemy battlements), 2fort, etc...really fun to do.

I agree. We fixed it in beta for a short time, but ultimately decided to keep the bug. Ideally, I'd like to keep the functionality of super-trimping but make it more consistent (not reliant on a bug) and at the same time not break any trimp maps. The latter goal would probably be difficult though.
