The most effective training level I've played is Smashball's. I've tried to structure FF's to work similarily.

As mostly said before, every single quake game, Warsow, Painkiller, a few others. It should be worth noting most games with any engine roots in goldsrc or id tech, such as half life, cod1-4 share a very similiar strafe jumping technique as well, but the bunny hopping is usually nerfed to hell (ie, cs mousewheel jumping, doing tight circle strafes results in same thing) XD

Perhaps, but it was still idiotic whether or not it was announced before tf2 due to v1.0 being flat out awful. The timing was just icing on an otherwise horribly made cake.

sorry, i left my crystal balls in my other pants..

v1.0 wasn't that bad. it was mostly just one bug to do with drawing decals on models when on lower graphics settings. it's shear frequency ruined a lot of people's first impressions though, granted.

well no one gives a shit why they crashed, just that they crashed. so saying some bullshit about decal drawing doesnt explain that some people (me) couldnt play 1.0 for more than 5 minutes without crashing.

Honestly I thought 1.0 of FF was amazing. I was comparing it against TFC and it excelled or equalled it in many areas (100% visually). It's mainly the later patches that started killing off the gameplay for me.
