Court Question

I have court for some stupid reason, see I'm not quite 18 yet therefor I cannot drive between the hours of 1am-5am and so when i was pulled over in Gorgetown Ma then gave me a court date, well what i would like to know is if i need to have my parent there. She has work and I'd rather her not go to court and miss work.

Uhhhh shouldn't you be asking that question to whoever asked you to be there in the first place? You'd probably get a better answer that way.

I've look online, and I came to the conclusion that whoever set up the Ma Court system online is rather retarded

It's not a bad idea to go with a parent, especially if they know the court system a little too.

If you're a juvenile then it's a pretty safe bet that your parent needs to be present with you.

This too. When I was under 18 and I had to be out close to my curfew, I made sure to be home by the time it hit, or to not go anywhere after it. It's really hard to get pulled over for staying out after the curfew if you're not out during it.

But since you're a minor, you're probably going to be required to have a parent/legal guardian there with you.

Typically if you are under 18 you always need an adult with you of come kind. Your direct parent would be best most of the time.

Also, she can't be penalized for missing work in any way as it is illegal for any employer to punish their employees for going to court for any reason.

Also, as a general rule, if you're a minor and something official is happening, have a parent or legal guardian present. Since you're, y'know, a minor.

I've had the discussion about teens working late hours, say at a fast food joint that doesn't close till 2 A.M. Sucks that they get in trouble for working to make their money rather than the fuckheads who don't that ruin it.

Besides the fact, if its a good reason, like said stated reason, then the judge will most likely be understanding. Treat them with respect and they can respond in kind, not to say there isn't the judge with a dirty look on his face and one hand on his pecker.

The reason being was because I had a close friend of mine crying on my shoulder because she got in a fight with her parents and took off. I brought her back home after her parents threatened to call the police.

make sure that when you're in court you're very disrespectful and wearing shorts & a t-shirt - judges love that. and since you're still a minor make sure no parent or legal guardian is there with you. and try to bring a weapon into the courtroom.

I've driven after 12 AM as a minor (17). I had to because I got out of work at 12 (voluntarily of course). They give me a note with my boss's name and phone number, so I had an excuse for driving after 12. Luckily the police never pulled me over anyway so I never worried. That was a few years ago.

They usually don't. In my state, at least, you get special work papers that state such an exemption from curfews.

Curfews are totalitarian shit anyway. My city implemented a 11PM 18 and under curfew. Bleh.
