Maps to be worked on by myself over the next few months

I've finally decided to start making maps. I was hesitant before due to having to learn new things, but I'd rather make the maps myself, the correct way, rather than leaving it in the hands of someone who doesn't know anything about anything.

So, without further ado, the first map I will be remaking is called Poopshoot.

It was a great sniper map for TFC, I liked it simply because it had tons of obstacles, and you could hide virutally anywhere.

Another map that interests me is Forever2/DubForever, although I'm not sure who I'd need to contact to get permission to remake it.

And finally, after I get my first 1 or 2 maps down, I will be making ff_turkeyburgers.

Alrighty then. I downloaded and configured Hammer successfully(I hope) and I created my first set of brushes!! I now know how to make a room enclosed with brushes. :O.. Poopshoot will be my first map, and I look to make it within the next couple weeks. So look foward to seeing me release my first awesome map soon!

A good practice would to only use tools/nodraw when you build the map, then go back and apply textures only on what you see, it saves compile times, and vis speeds in game.

Also any complex geometry, seal inside the map(make sure its not being used to close the map)and make them all func_details. when you get more into the map, mess around the the hint tool, as it helps block the engine from rendering rooms that you cant see in game

please do be sure to start up a new thread for each map so that when people search for them they will be able to find them quickly as opposed t digging through this one thread.

No problem. I'll be periodically checking back on this thread when I run into problems. Believe me, I will make a brand spankin new topic for any WIP/Released maps I create.
