To say that game is TF style play and not TFC style play would be moronic.

TF and TFC have very similar gameplay, how can it be one and not the other?

Um, the 40 achievements aren't all for medic.

And where did they say they were adding new maps?

You know what? This is the reason why I never play Demoman in TFC.

I agree 100% (never said otherwise) BUT, that doesn't mean the "Team Fortress" game style cannot be fun without them.

"Team Fortress" was refered as a banner for ALL of those types of games. (i.e QWTF, TFC, ETF, Q3F, FF, TF2 etc. etc.)

I played in the first ever Australian Quake Championships at the Impulse '97 lan in which I played in the QTF comp and I found there to be quite a difference in mechanics and style between QWTF and TFC as I do between TFC and FF, TFC and ETF etc. etc.
I liked TFC far more than QWTF.
If I could actually get to play it I would no doubt like FF more than TFC.
I enjoyed it crashes and all upon release when the servers here were populated.

TF2 IS "Team Fortress" style play.
If you don't like TF2 then fine. I'm not trying to change to change your mind.
Your "loyalty" is comendable but, your blinded to what the "people" want by your own narrow view of the subject at hand.

I like both FF and TF2 and I will not diss TF2 for being different when it was never ment to be the same right from the outset.

I find it funny that you say that. I play TF2 alot. It's fun. It's not TF gameplay IMO

So what, exactly, makes a game fortress style? Examining other fortress-style games, the only thing TF2 has in common with the style (besides the name) are the classes and CTF objectives.

New achievement packs will be added to Team Fortress 2 in the coming weeks. First up: a batch of 36 achievements for all the hard-working medics out there. Here's a sneak peek:

...

We are currently working on new maps, and we are planning to release them as downloadable content for the 360. I don't know what the schedule will be for that - new maps will likely be released individually on the PC as they're ready, and then we'll offer them as a single pack on the 360. We're currently testing a new map that's extremely fun, and we can't wait for our customers to try it out.

engee, stop being an ass.
but i do agree with ventry. He's not an ass and not calling us fanboys. Anyways i dont understand why some people on this forum are like:
"RAWR TF2. ME HATE, YOU DUMB YOU DO NOT LIKE FF RAWR!" without even giving it a chance. When i first rented TF2 for the 360, i was expecting total suckiness. Actually, it turned out to be quite fun. then i played TFC. I played it for a while, and was VERY bored after a while. Then.... i played FF, again. I can't belive i havent played it in so long, its so freakin awsome!

FF,TF2>TFC, IMO.

There will be bhop and grens in TF2

Crits and spawn timers have already taken care of.

Not saying it can't be done but grens and bunnyhopping are going to take a lot of more effort to introduce compared to simply disabling spawn timers and critical hits.

Interesting. Perhaps you could give some other non-trivial development insights while you are at it :P

I can give out some starters...

- Project management is time consuming job
- It's hard to make good looking models
- Creating proper sound is not as easy as people usually think

etc etc...

- Removing / adding elements to an already balanced game will more than often cause balance issues meaning additional work in other areas
- Although development progress might seem to pick up speed at first things may halter when the team runs into tougher obstacles requiring more effort

Although trivial it would seem you weren't considering this when you made your first post :P

Or Team Fortress play, which was what TFC was based off of. TF was good, TFC was good, there were some decent quakemods, and then this. Pick up QuakeTF if you can find it. Play TFC with the bhop on (Create a Listen server, even). Now play TF2.

To most of the vets, TF2 is a slowed-down, dumbed-down version of the high-skill game TF2. 10 years ago, you said bunnyhop, people would say "Quake" or "Team Fortress". 10 years from now, they'll think it's idiots jumping around in Battlefield 2 (one of the nicknames for it).

I would reconsider Portal... it's a brilliantly designed game.
