From what I read, the army wanted the vests for 2 weeks before testing them (presumably so they can throw them in the desert to test heat/sand stuff) and the makers of Dragonskin said no, we wont give you them unless you shoot them on the same day.

It seems that an AK round went straight through it, but a 5.56mm round didn't resulting in one of the Dragonskin people saying "don't buy it, unless you're an insurgent"

Dont matter though, arent troops not allowed to wear any non official armor anymore or face loosing all death benefits to their families if something happens to them?
