YAY TO PFL!
"Profortress League, one of the best TF leagues in the past has announced its return! Not only are they bringing back ladders for Team Fortress Classic, but will also be offering Team Fortress 2 and Fortress Forever ladders when the two games are released."

Huh. Dunno if I'd qualify PFL as "one of the best" but cool to see them coming back.

Profortress League was the name. It was a cool idea but terrible execution - at least in my opinion.
And yeah, CNBL is clan cannibal (sp)

The commissioner position had little to do with the PFL's faults. The primary mistake made by those that setup the league was allowing the general council of clan leaders to vote on cheat disputes and things of that nature.
The clan council should only legislate league rules, vote on map rotations, etc. Disputes and other rule infractions should be handled by an independant panel appointed by the council and overseen by the division admin and commissioner. Basically there should have been(and hopefully now will be) this important separation between those who make the rules and those who enforce them. As a division admin I really ought to know, huh.. |

I thought the whole reason behind the creation of the PFL was to have clan leadership input on things regarding cheat disputes, etc. If the clans only had input on rules and map rotation, it would have been no different at all to STA, which is kinda what prompted the whole deal to begin with, no?
The main thing wrong with the PFL, imo, was that it was built and geared solely to those top tier clans that left STA, and wasn't really left with the lower tier divisions to help prop it up and keep things fresh and fun with an influx of new players/teams. That and I didn't particularly like the seasonal-based format, weekly titles are much more interesting imo. No, I'm not bitter... well.. maybe a little bit ;D |

The council elects the commissioner and the other admins. As the PFL demonstrated, you cannot give the clans control of cheat disputes without supervision. Again, the clans make the rules, they just don't enforce them directly. The whole Necro fiasco was a perfect example of what was wrong with the PFL.

I guess all the leagues had their issues.. but in the end, I think in PFL I felt like things were a bit more out in the open. You definitely never saw boost being a league staff member in PFL.
Mind you, I managed to be missing the week of the Zt/mH match on tempest, so maybe my opinion would different of PFL had I been there to see that. heh |
