looks "perfect" to me. Enermax is one of the top of the line PSU's, so as far as I'm concerned you've chosen well.

Why go with the 7900 GTX 512? Just save some money and get the 7900 GT 256 and save some cash. I just don't think price/performance is really worth the $$$ increase.

In line with the comments on the 7900 GTX....

Just curious... what does a 7950GX2 cost in the UK? (2 7900 512MB's GPU's on one board) Basically, you get virtually 2 7900GTX 512's in SLI performance with only 1 PCI-E slot used,.

the price here in the states is from $520 - $600, about $300-$400 less than a dual 7900GTX 512 SLI setup.

sensai: what can i say, i'm a ram monkey big games need big memory.

SoG: i didnt get the 7950 because of the price increase. my plan was to possibly buy a second 7900GTX when the time came for an increase, at a much better price.

DancingFool: wtf?

2 79000 GTs in SLI run maybe 5 fps lower than the 7950GX2, although I don't know how comparative it is in price.

When 500 snakes appeared on a plane, not one man could have stopped it. But two could. Alone, helpless, but together they were the MOTHERFUCKIN SNAKE KILLERS

Summer 2006.

I'm actually over the SoaP hype, I've moved onto Planes on a Snake, the sequel to SoaP. There will be a secret trailer for it at the end of the credits for SoaP.

It's probably rather short with the beginning and end being a plane landing and running over a snake thus killing it. Ahhh, nothing like whiskey to soothe my anger induced headache.

k, got motherboard #2, an abit ab9 pro.

this thing has three SATA controllers, an in-chip intel one with 6 ports, a second one that has two SATA ports and a PATA port, and a third one with another two SATA ports.

problem is, i'm getting various BSODs when installing windows, both I/O errors (probably SATA) and ram :/

Beware onboard sound... some onboard sound boards have a shared port for mic or rear speakers.... wtf!

Check that first.

You may need to install windows with the i think F6 "use your own SCSI/SATA Driver" It may have the driver, but it may be old or the wrong one, etc. Go DL the SATA driver from wherever, throw it on a floppy (yea totally gay, XP wont let you check for it on a CD or usb pen drive, only floppy) and use that, it may just solve all the probs. (my mobo cant install windows without that method, it doesnt see the HD's because it cant even find the HD controller)

ok its sorta working now. i've since learned it's a common problem regarding this board and corsair/geil ram. i had to boost the DDR voltage to the book 2.1v specified on the corsair site, instead of what it detected it at (1.8v).

as far as the SATA problem goes, it works in windows fine, just not in the windows installer, so i guess i'll have to pin my hopes on a BIOS update.

i'm about to run this beast through its paces, so wish me luck
