thats why I dont play rpg, I like my real life to much to dedicate that much time to a game. Not that I would say anything against anyone who wants to as that is their choice and as long as they arent harming anyone they can do whatever they want.

Too much of any one thing is bad for you, this includes online gaming.
Once you start refusing to go out down the pub because you need to play a clan match, thats when you need to go cold turkey before someone has to surgically remove your fingers from the keyboard. MMORPG are teh devil, at least with FPS you can take or leave it and it doesnt have to eat up all your time, just a couple hours. |

I think the problem with MMORPG is that they are all designed to make people spend more and more time on the game. Rather than be a skill thing its a time you put in thing. The more time you spend the more months on the contract the more money they get.

Those online RPG games are meant to make the user addicted. To occupy their time, to make them want to continue. And they take WAY too long to advance up as a result of their addictive nature. Comparison:
To obtain resources: TFC - Run into respawn, get armour, ammo, health, and grenades MMORPG - Use a magical potion, run around for an hour finding materials To obtain skill: TFC - Choose a class, aim and click, gradually get better MMORPG - Kill thousands of little furry animals and look through the list of skills to obtain To change classes: TFC - Press B and a number, respawn in a few secondss MMORPG - Create a new identity, kill thousands more little furry animals, and waste hours more of your life To kill an enemy: TFC - Grenade? Rocket? Shotgun? Point and shoot! Run over the backpack if you're low on ammo. MMORPG - Select a skill and click on enemy...wait...run from enemy...click and wait...watch enemy die, and pick up items |

I play TFC, CSSource, HL2DM, World of WarCraft, Anarchy Online, and the occasional webgame and single player game.
Balance them out and it's not a bad thing. Live your entire life on one single game, and it is. I've played over 10 different MMORPGs and loved playing alot of them. They are fun, in a way that may seem boring; but it's just so addicting. Like TFC, but in it's own way, a MMO kinda way. |
