It's probably just the next release of their browser. Maybe it'll be completely HTML 5 compliant or something

Coincidentally, June 16th is when those silly Verizon people will theoretically be turning on my internet. WTB modem before Tuesday...

I for one like Opera and use it almost exclusively. I am particularly grooving on the beta for Opera 10.

I'm not sure why anyone uses Opera when there's Firefox & Chrome.

Maybe if you want to access the old web.

This new one's been reinvented, I hear.

Because not everyone uses the same browser as you.

It's hard for me to just stick with one. I use IE, Fire Fox and Chrome for different reasons. Mostly Fire Fox though.

Never got into Opera.

For me, I love firefox and it's plugins.
I used netscape for a solid year before switching to Firefox (pre 1.0).
The only reason why _I_ think people should be using Opera is because they used it back when it was NOT free. (Or they are Nintendo fan boys)

As for Chrome, I have no use for it. However people say it's a solid, light-weight browser.

any reactions on this? I'm finding my firefox is crashing more and more and am considering switching. Is Opera better or should I go to chrome?

Opera and Safari/Chrome(Webkit) both pass Acid 3 with 100, while Firefox 3.5 is 93(If I remember correctly).

For those who do not know what ACID is
Quote:
Acid3 is a test page from the Web Standards Project that checks how well a web browser follows certain web standards, especially relating to the Document Object Model and JavaScript.

When successful, the Acid3 test displays a gradually increasing percentage counter with colored rectangles in the background. The percentage displayed is based on the number of subtests passed. It does not represent an actual percentage of conformance as the test does not keep track of how many of the subtests were actually started (100 is assumed). In addition to these the browser also has to render the page exactly like the reference page is rendered in the same browser. Like the text of the Acid2 test, the text of the Acid3 reference rendering is not a bitmap, in order to allow for certain differences in font rendering.

Not surprised, but IE8 is still in the 20s, lol.

I use firefox because i've been using it since it began
