I can't map....

Well....I don't know how, and really don't have the time to learn. I'm just wondering if anyone might be interested in taking up an idea I had for a CTF map. I have a basic layout....set in a shopping mall. To my knowledge, this has never been done before.

I rather based it on the mall in the original "Dawn of the Dead", and crossed it with a local mall that no longer exists.

If anyone is interested, I can send some roughly drawn pics of each floors layout, and a list of ideas for it.

Go ahead and post it. I might when I get more progress done on ff_thecove. Layout is key for me though. Plenty of maps look good but don't play well, and visa versa.

Best thing to do is draw it up on paper, that way you can iron out any problems you encounter.

Paper sketches are nice even if you're just doing overhead blue print like designs. Plus they are a good way to explain your map. I just wanted to add in this post that a "Mall Theme" is difficult sometimes because of the multitude of custom textures required not to mention any custom modeling. Sometimes these maps are the most elaborate. They are by no means a small undertaking by anyones standards.

Alright, I'll get on dropping the design onto "paper", and finding somewhere to upload the files.

Thanks guys!

Oh, and to be up-front about it... I never expected that this map would be *easy*....(to create, or to play, for that matter).....but I just hope it turns out to be FUN!

Sounds like a good idea.
