Computer Literacy...
Alright so this is the story. according to my academic profile, I need to take a computer literacy class in order to recieve my college degree as the course is required for graduation. the magic is i went to opt out of it to just take a placement test to avoid having to bleed through the ears listening to a person teach me how to do email, and open web browsers. well they couldnt give me the test for some reason, saying i was not eligable to take the placement test to prove i am smarter then the teacher and recieve my 3 credit hours.
today was the first day of class, and to give you an example of what i will be going through the next few months here were some of the trivia my teacher decided to share with us today. [holds up mouse] class can you tell me what this is? what is windows xp? what is the difference between hardware and software. what is internet explorer. what does GUI stand for. what is GUI. how do you open up the start menu from your keyboard. |

How far did you pursue this up the ranks of the University? Personally I would take it all the way up to the Chancellor and irritate him or her to avoid something so horribly remedial like a class like this.

its annoying to be in a class you could teach yourself but i guess it happens. i have other classes i need to take as well before i graduate but i mean this class did not have to be taken. at least its almost like forcing me to browse the forums while at college hehehe.

Maybe the class isn't on Computers at all but testing you to see how well you navigate Bureacracy. You, sir, get a failing grade.

I had a class in which you simply HAD to be there to get credit.
I played NES and SNES emulators on my laptop using 2 PS2 controllers to challenge the people I were sitting with. It was a 350 person lecture. Too bad we never got a CS or TFC game off the road |

Make the class fun......
Bring up questions that are highly technical in nature on a consistant basis. Don't forget to ask questions about machine coding and make sure you have the full, exact answers in your mind already so you can point out any of the tiniest mistakes the instructor makes. Helped me pass time years ago. |

Argue that the windows GUI sucks and that we should all use command prompt.
The prof's head might EXPLODE! Also mention linux and if you have to do homework in anything M$ say that you only run linux because M$ is part of the system and the systems sucks. |

We pretty much have the same thing, where I'm at, except that it's compulsory for ALL.
