Report: Chinese youth, disappointed in online love, kills self

A 17-year-old Chinese youth, disappointed his online girlfriend turned out not to be the woman of his dreams, has killed himself, state media reported Friday.

The youth from a town in northeast China "hung himself after a catastrophic meeting with his online sweetheart," the Xinhua News Agency said.

It quoted local public security sources as saying the teenager became addicted to an online chatroom in July and stayed in an Internet cafe for days talking to a woman who called herself "Qunjiaofeiyang" or "flying skirt," and said she was a beautiful 19-year-old.

The two arranged to meet in Mudanjiang, a town in Heilongjiang province, on the day after Christmas.

"To his intense disappointment, his dream girl turned out to be a plain lady who was more than 10 years older than him," Xinhua said.

The disappointed youth immediately returned home, and told his parents what had happened only after the woman telephoned him.

They tried to console him, but he was found four days later hanging from a tree.

China's communist government has said in the past it was worried about the amount of time children spend playing online games and getting access to violent and obscene material.

China's population of Internet users numbered 132 million last year, and while the government encourages Internet use for business and education it tries to block access to material deemed subversive or pornographic.

Based on the criteria of being mentally and emotionally stable enough to not kill yourself when someone you meet online turns out to have lied about their age. It isn't an overly difficult test to pass.

hmm don't know about asia but here in the west, we have a male/female ratio which is rapidly decreasing. Scientists believe it can be pinned on the amount of chemicals we spend our lifes around on a daily basis, everything from perfume, dishwashing agents, and other more potent chemicals at home, at work etc.

Since all fetuses are female from the get go and only later develop into men these chemicals somehow disrupt this process meaning less boys are born on average.

So in a near future men will have their pick of the litter of abundent women.

Perhaps we'll dissappear all together, and girls go hermaphrodites on us... dangit!
