HL2 Episode 1 available for pre-download

For those interested, you can now "preload" Episode 1, and have it activated on June 1.

If you pre-purchase via Steam, you get a 10% discount off the $19.95 USD price.

Yeah, and they'll screw it up like they did with DoD:S and cancel hundreds of orders. Don't get me wrong, I'll still try it, but I don't expect a damned thing from it.

I'll get it, I don't think they'll screw it up, I mean it's like another part of HL, where as DoD is way different.

What I couldn't stand is knowing I've got the game sitting on my computer, waiting a code to be unlocked for that long.

From what I've gathered, it isn't actually the entire game, but merely the largest portions that have been deemed completed. They are still developing this add-on as we speak.

The article in PC Gamer suggested that Valve is moving to episodic content for the continuing saga of Gordon hence labeling it Episode 1. How they have not gotten the Lucas Stormtroopers mobilized on the name I don't know.

FT, I think Lost was referring to a screw up that actually happened where Valve lost the orders.
