rcon control

None of us have used RCON stuff in aaaaaaages, and we've been having issues with our server's RCON control. We think we're doing it correctly, but are getting problems. Could anyone tell us what we're doing wrong?

rcon_address XXX.XX.XXX.XXX:27015 (correct server IP here)
rcon_password "insertpasswordhere" (correct RCON password here)

rcon kick "Annoying_Tard_In_Server"

Cannot connect to XXX.XX.XXX.XXX:27015.

^^^ That's the response to any RCON command we give. If we try to put in incorrect passwords, we don't get any error message saying we've entered a wrong password, also.

Thanks.

Well if you are IN the server itself try without using RCON address.

I've had no problems using RCON on our servers. The password is not in quotes.

rcon_password blahblahsomepasswordgoeshere
rcon say test

Thanks - that was the problem. I didn't open the port for it. All's good.
