That is where l4d is - its in its last days, gasping for air, trying to hold into life. But its not going to do any good.

I feel sorry for anyone who buys l4d after november 18 and expects to play online. Its going to be that one person sitting in their lobby waiting for people to join.

True.

If L4D2 is successful, L4D will be dead, but if it fails, then well... expect to see some life in the lobbies.

The demo was pretty good, I loved it. I'm thinking it'll whip it out, but you never know, it could be a complete failure in 6 days. Not many games do that, but you just never know. Still, I think when L4D2 releases, the popularity of L4D will certainly drop, but not by that much.

Also, take note of L4D2 Boy-cotters, sure there's not a handful of them, but there's quite a few who still like L4D.

yes, i dont actually play this, but i think between people who cant afford l4d2 right now, the people who cant justify the price tag until it drops, and of course those who simply refuse to pay full whack for relatively the same game in such a short amount of time, there will be a bit of life left in the game for quite some time.

Truthfully, L4D is fun but once you've played it through it several times it gets a bit old. L4D2 is a great thing for L4D because it brings old players back and it's actually been pulling a lot of new players in. Play a public normal game... none of them have every played before.

This is no different then CS:S or TF2/FF. Sure lots of people will change over, but people will come back.

People need to stop yelling about and morning the death of a game that isn't dead. While you are crying about non-dead games, why don't you cry about the death of HL1 and CS?

Now I for one probably wont play much L4D once L4D2 comes out, but I don't play much L4D to begin with.

This is the problem with purely linear games. The replayability factor.

Once you beat it, it's fun to play a few more times, and then.... BOREDOM.

You're not gonna hear people cry about HL1 and CS because the sequels took forever to come out. People are gonna bitch about how "It's not right to come out with a new game so soon!", instead of accepting that they get to play a new part of a game they liked.
It's a sense of entitlement, I think. People think they're owed all kinds of free expansion material, and when they don't get it, their panties get tighter and tighter.
I'd hate to see how these kinds of people react when the next Madden game comes out.
