Router Limitations - Improve Your Speeds

I noticed that my internet speeds were lower then they should be.
After much research I leaned that my Router's WAN port was actually a 10 Half Duplex port thus limiting my speed and throughput.

My upgrading to a router with a 10/100 Full Duplex WAN port I've VASTLY improved my speeds. Wasn't too cheap though.

I actually built mine using old hardware that was no longer viable and then used NICs for it that I knew were solid. Mines pretty heavily modified from the stock build but even in the stock build they work quite well.

I considered that, but I didn't have nics and hardware lying around. plsu I was looking for something small :-\

i've been looking at some barebones micro itx setups w/ dual gigabit lan ports for a homebrew firewall. newegg even has some if you got a couple bills to drop.
