1) Streaming anything can disappear. I have a favorite YouTube vid? I download it before someone flags it and it disappears because it used a song from 1942 that someone still owns the copyright to.

2) Sites can go offline for a while, or your Internet can go down.

Those are my two reasons against using streaming media, stuff "in the cloud", etc. over locally hosted stuff.

Also, I'm surprised that no one has made a joke about streaming yet.

A friend of a friend has 2TB of pr0n neatly organized in a server that he takes to LAN parties. Something about 10 500GB HDs with mirrors... still has .5 TB of free space.
