Increase In-Game FPS
Having troubles with horrible FPS and the game running unpredictably randomly?
The problem is most likely because of fragmented files in the Source SDK base. To fix this issue: - Open up your Steam Games window. - Click the tools tab. - Right click on 'Source SDK Base'. - Click on 'Properties'. You shold have a secondary window pop up that shows the homepage for the SDK, the developer, and two buttons for creating advanced launch options and a desktop shortcut. - Click on the 'Local Files' tab. - And finally, click on 'Defragment Cache Files'. I also Clicked on 'Verify integrity of tool cache', it could help, but that im not sure. Doing this gave me an increase of about 30-50 frames per second. Loading Times To decrease loading times by allotting more system RAM to Fortress Forever: Follow the above steps until you see the 'Launch Options' button. Then add in the command box that appears: '-heapsize 1024000" <Without the quotes, and replacing '1024000' with half of your system memory so if you only have 1 gig of ram, you change it to 512000. thanks man, ill have to try this out.
also, a cool tip to get your game to load faster is to go to your FF game properties, click launch options and type this command "-heapsize 1024000" replacing 1024000 with half of your system memory, so if you only have a gig of ram, you change it to 512000. This process allots more system ram to the game you are currently playing so everything loads faster. I hate having to wait 30+ seconds at a loading screen just to play. |

I did this and it didn't do anything to my fps. Source SDK Base was fragmented by about 30% too.
I guess this could help if you have a very old computer. |

Yeah but I didn't bother mentioning it. I thought the verify integrity had more to do with bad .gcf files that cause crashes or severe problems or just didn't work at all.
Honestly I'd rather buy a new computer that put up with low setting/shitty graphics and <60 fps AVERAGE, 40 at a minimum. It may not be an option for some people but everytime I upgrade I go bare minimum. Keeps everything but my mobo/cpu/ram, if it isn't compatible with the new board, and sometimes my cpu. Keep all the cd/dvd drives, fan, power supply if it's still kickin and hard drive. Which leads to me having 2 old motherboards+single core cpus laying around. Maybe that is why god invented skeet shooting. |

Just erase the line you put in your launch options for heap size and it will revert back to default.
