Freezing Up

Right, so I sorted out the other problems (more or less), but now I have a new problem. Whenever I play for more than a few minutes, the game locks up (I can't move, and the sounds loop forever).

Tried deleting the clientregistry... Didn't work.

Multiple re-installs... Nope.

Anything I can do about this?

Specs

3.4 AMD Ghz Processer
200 GB hard drive
1 GB of RAM
GeForce 6600
Windows XP

Do you experience this behaviour with any other source-based mod or game? If it's crashing in FF only, then it is probably a FF specific problem.

If you're crashing, you can post your mdmp files here to help us.

Mine will do it now and then with every source/hl game, but usually if you just wait long enough it'll fix its self. I'd give it 5 minutes before trying to exit it.

It's happened a few other times on other source games as well. Really pisses me off, too.

I always seem to get one of the problems posted on this board when I play

I'll have some mdmp files loaded up so you can look at em. In the other thread, of course.

Well it could be something that's in your system causing it. I think that's what does it to mine, although I don't know what the culprit is.

hmm... if it happens in other Source games, I wonder if you might have heat issues inside your case. All clean (no dust) & cool in there?

My GPU's at 56, and it's probably got a little dust, but I haven't gotten that in a while, so I really don't know if it was heat that was causing mine, especially since most often it'll freeze and then fix its self.

freezing

I have the same problem I cant play more than 10 minutes of episode one before it freezes and loops the sound. Counter strike source and half life 2 deathmatch dont really get the problem, but newer games like DoD source and FF do. cant really check the temperature because I get stuck in the game and have to reset the computer

Run it in windowed mode then, and have the temperature off to the side. Windowed mode might actually help the problem but if it doesn't then you'll have the frozen temperature setting.
