ETF was not a direct port of 2.3, it had many changes and quite frankly had the best balance and gameplay of any q3f version out there. I still enjoyed q3f 1h more even with the bugs (bhop bug = argh!) due to the sheer crazy speed capable, but that's aside the point.

The fact remains that it's just free... I don't see the sense in trying to contend, especially when the community is just too small to bicker about petty preferences like how far a rocket goes or what exact effect a conc does. Plus, if this community wanted to play TF and hold themselves over, I'm sure they'd just play TFC. Hell, that's what I'm doing and I don't even like TFC that much. It's just close enough to where I don't care, it's not like I'm doing anything aside pubbing.

I have not led any revival attempts, not sure where you got that from. I've just seen a ton come and go and I just don't see the sense in why people would keep trying when even railbait doesn't get many players anymore.

I wish you luck in any case, I'll stop being a negative bastard now.

I don't mind negative feedback. That actually helps us to improve.

You say a "ton come and go"

As far as I know, TFC and ETF are really the only 2 choices players have for a Fortress game until we see Fortress Forever, TF2, or Q4F come out.
Q3FX ads a little mix of both worlds in a sense.

1500 downloads and nobody on the servers on a regular basis
I don't get that myself, but learned that in order to get a server to get active you have to join it empty and then players will start to join in.

We are currently working on ver 1.1 which will include 16 more maps (and replace 2 with no sky) and change a few weapon skins and a grenade timer (3-2-1 timer) would be installed by default.

I joined the "official" server but I was pinging 300 so it wasn't much fun. Hello, noticeable rocket delay. The concs aren't very strong, are they? I mean, the effect is murder, but they don't seem to have much push at all.

The bunnyhopping's pretty good, though. Got the hang of it real easy. With a little effort I was jumping from the bottom ramp of this one map's flagroom up to the third level where the flag was. Don't remember the name of it for the life of me, it was that four-team one.

Need to figure out why my ping is so awful and then I'll likely play some more.

Just making sure, you did throw the concs, right? Because handheld concs don't really work in the Quake series of TF mods.

Yeah. Actually the hand-held worked okay, but my timing was off because I didn't have any noise. But to test, I just stood on the lip of one of the battlements, tossed the conc near the wall, and stood there as it went off. I didn't make it to the other side. A frag, in the same spot, launched me well over.

Bit short of a notice and also a bit late at night.

How about Saturday and Sunday at 8pm GMT/UTC? For Americans it's noon or afternoon then, which is a bad time for working days but weekend should be fine.

Bingo Bango was on (GG Man) and we managed to get Wraithix to join who is an "Old School" Fortress fan. We played about 4 map rotations and had a blast.

Weekend get togethers sound nice to me! I will try and round up the regulars to be there.

From what the players are saying, Q3FX is very smooth and the gameplay is absolutely awesome! The only bitches are lost configs on restart and 2 maps with no sky (will be fixed in 1.1) but we set up a Q3FX FAQ which can be read HERE.

In my opinion, this beats ETF and TFC since we fixed the bugs. See you in the game.

Shit yes. This is fun. A little lag, but for being across the ocean it's not too bad. I miss HH'ing (they always push me downward for some reason), and it's a bit tough to build speed while bhopping, and the concs really seem like they should be stronger, but all in all it's quite fun.

I WOULD LIKE TO PLAY SOME MORE. Who's in?
