Map Idea: Accelerator

Here is a map idea which can easily be shot down.

A map which is essentially looks like the outline of a lemon from the top down, which consists of some sort of facility has has 3 concentric tunnels running through it. Within each of these three tunnels are 3 very large spheres are constantly spinning around and around the tunnels, each goes either clockwise or counter clockwise, alternating in direction. The flag or key to capture is in the other base in a way where you will have to cross over 6 sections of the accelerator rings to claim the flag and then six to bring it back, for a total of 12. Also the doors and the exits to the tunnels would not line up exactly, so people would have to spend some time, even if just a few seconds in the tunnels while they cross them. and they can be blocked by enemy players. Therefore we would have lots of squishing, and lots of gibs. A potential feature of the map would be two rooms to the side of each tunnel which people could attempt to get to if they got trapped in the tunnel, but were running in the same direction of the sphere, and could run enough to get ahead of it.

There could also be some openings in the tunnels which you could climb up/down and run around on the upper or bottom floors.

Btw sorry for being confusing hopefully the picture will sort things out some. Balls should be as big as the one in Indiana Jones, and move quite quickly. Did I say gibs?

I like this idea! I would also suggest a center room in the middle of the 3 rings. A rather large open area with 4 entrances into it (N, E, S, W). Might add some potential. Could be a fun map, if made properly.

On a side note, War Peanut, is that a dessert dog in your avatar?

Hopefully that ( the large central room) is what is conveyed by the picture, I just want to make sure the map isn't bland or boring to play, and the reason I think balls would be more fun than something else like trains or blocks would be the wiggle room the stones would have when they spun around in the rings, and up and down the walls, like a marble in a hoola hoop.

(Map Picture Updated)
Main room should have some barriers in it and 4 doors

The links are currently borked, but I think I get it.

There should be enough room to get around the balls if you go over the top of them with a rj or concajump or something.

And no, the balls should be very hard to avoid almost filling the whole tunnel. The best chance a player should have is to crouch in an area they think there might be enough space between the ball and the tunnel they are in.

EDIT Nov 17, 2005

I have begun working on this map, and was wondering what format I should put it in? Source Half Life is what I am using, but is there a parameter file for FF yet? I have only created very basic maps as of yet, and would appreciate any help on this.

I was going to use spinning wheels to push the giant balls ahead, and /or I need to make new entities for the balls. If you know how to force movement on objects like the ball in the breakout map hosted on some servers (krackhouse is one), without the force affecting players, help is appreciated. The last part is how to make a creepy whirling/ rumbling sound for the balls, or should I just leave the default sounds that the floor type makes.

If your still making this map , definately add a creepy noise for the ball, to give warning of its ominous approach.

Accelerator

I have restarted work on this map in anticipation of FF.
I am going to add glass windows, and doors which you can hold closed to imcrease the fun.

I have been having problems with making the balls roll around the walls, while they roll down the tubes.

I will post screen shots as I have them.
